Why are taxes added to my order?
Colorado law requires us to collect sales tax on all orders delivered within the state. The tax rate varies based on your specific delivery address and includes several components:
- Colorado State Tax (2.9%)
- City or county tax (varies by location - typically 3-5%)
- Regional Transportation District (RTD) tax (1%)
- Scientific & Cultural Facilities District tax (0.1%)
- Colorado Retail Delivery Fee ($0.28 flat fee on deliveries)
For most deliveries, the combined tax rate is between 7-10% of your order subtotal. For example, Denver addresses are charged approximately 9.15% plus the $0.28 delivery fee, while Arvada addresses are charged approximately 6.9% plus the fee.
Why does my tax seem high?
Colorado has multiple local tax jurisdictions, which means your total tax includes state, city, and special district taxes. We use Shopify Tax to automatically calculate the exact rate for your specific address - down to the rooftop level - to ensure accuracy and compliance with all local tax laws.
Why can't you include tax in your prices?
By law, we're required to collect sales tax from customers and remit it to the appropriate tax authorities - we cannot absorb or pay these taxes on your behalf. Sales tax is a pass-through charge that goes directly from you to the State of Colorado and local jurisdictions. It's not part of our business revenue, and we're legally obligated to collect the exact amount based on your delivery location.
When will I get my order?
Upon checkout, YOU will select the DELIVERY DATE and 2 HOUR WINDOW that works best for you. Your selection will be shown on the emailed Order Confirmation. Please only select a date and time in which you can retrieve from your doorstep quickly, to minimize exposure to the outdoor elements.
What is your return policy?
If there are any issues with the product or you (or your pup) are unsatisfied in any way, please contact us right away. We are happy to take every step possible for guaranteed satisfaction or your money back.
I'm not sure if these products will work for my dog, can I try a sample?
Of course! As a picky-pooch owner myself, I totally understand. Scroll all the way down on this page to find our Sample Request Form.
Is this dog food intended to be used as a complete meal, or a topper?
Each grind is formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of complete meal. However, our products also make a delicious topper to your dog's regular wet food or kibble.
What's your opinion on "Grain-Free"?
Grain-free dog food has become one of the most debated topics in pet nutrition. Some say it’s better. Some say it’s worse. But here’s what we believe at Front Range Canine Grinds.
The real question isn’t “grain-free or not?” — it’s what replaces the grain.
Not all grains are equal. And not all grain substitutes are either.
✅ Good grains we stand behind
• Rice — gentle on digestion, easily digestible, and well-tolerated by most dogs.
• Organic Oats — a nutritious grain when organically sourced, helping minimize glyphosate exposure while providing steady energy and fiber.
❌ Grains we avoid
• Wheat Flour, Barley, and other gluten-containing grains — often used as highly processed inexpensive fillers with limited nutritional benefit.
• Conventionally Grown Oats — frequently high in glyphosate residues unless organically sourced. Glyphosate is the active ingredient in the herbicide Roundup.
When it comes to grain-free foods, the replacement matters even more.
✅ Smart grain substitutes we trust
• Sweet Potatoes
• Pumpkin
• Squash
• White potatoes
• Carrots
These whole-food ingredients provide natural fiber, vitamins, and energy — when prepared correctly.
Why preparation matters:
For ingredients like pumpkin, squash, and potatoes, proper preparation is essential. That means skins and seeds removed and proper cooking methods.
⚠️ What we’re cautious about
Many grain-free foods replace rice with large amounts of peas, lentils, chickpeas, or other legumes. These ingredients are high in anti-nutrients and, in large quantities, have raised concerns in ongoing research related to canine heart health. When choosing between rice and heavy legume content, we’d stick with rice.
At Front Range Canine Grinds, we don’t follow trends — we follow biology, ingredients, and preparation. Every recipe is built with intention, balance, and your dog’s long-term health in mind.
Because good nutrition isn’t about labels or buzzwords.
It’s about what’s actually in the bowl.
I'm having issues with the checkout process / I prefer to purchase in person.
